Grilled beef tenderloin and seasonal vegetables on mash potato with red wine by the fire place Chicago restaurants

Chicago is known for its restaurant scene, and the winter months are an especially great time to explore. On a cold winter night, some of the city’s best restaurants serve delicious comfort foods in front of a roaring fire. Gather your loved ones or favorite dinner date around the fire at these tasty Chicago restaurants:

The Dawson

Known as the gathering place in the River West neighborhood, The Dawson was built in 1888 and re-imagined in 2013. The site of the restaurant was once connected to a cluster of buildings owned by William and Henry Dawson. These gentlemen operated one of the country’s most successful fireplace mantle companies. Their elaborate pieces still fetch top dollar. The eatery’s owners strive to recreate the brothers’ pioneering and artistic attitude by celebrating craft food and drink as well as hospitality.

In addition to the fireplace, the dining area also features picture windows, wood decor, and unique light fixtures. The tuna ceviche is the perfect start to any meal, and entrees include fried chicken, pumpkin tortellini, and lamb shank.

At Frontier, nature dictates what’s on the menu. The dining room features communal seating. The chefs boast that they give everyone a taste of eating and drinking on the edge of civilization. Guests find the restaurant offers a hipster-vintage saloon vibe, which comes complete with exposed brick, old photographs, and a stone fireplace. Menu highlights include smoked Wagyu sirloin, lamb burgers, and fried chicken sandwiches.

Ella Eli

Nestled in the heart of Lakeview, Ella Eli offers a charming space full of lively conversation and globally-inspired cuisine. The restaurant always provides friendly service, and the low light ambiance makes it the perfect destination for date night. The wine menu offers tastes of France, while the dinner plates feature hints of Italy. Meals include Mediterranean sea bass, grilled octopus, and wood-oven roasted half chicken.
