When an exhibit of prized fruits and vegetables opened in 1847, no one knew that it would turn into one of the city’s most popular annual events.
It is now known as the Chicago Flower & Garden Show, and whether guests grow flowers and herbs in their kitchen or backyard, it is where everyone can discover new ideas while having fun.
The event takes place March 14th-18th, and highlights include:
The Garden Gourmet Stage
A variety of herbs grow well indoors, including thyme and oregano. If you are interested in learning how to make meals using homegrown herbs and other natural ingredients, don’t miss the Garden Gourmet Stage. This is where some of the city’s most notable chefs will share their secrets for creating savory dishes that will impress your family and friends.
The Potting Parties are one of the show’s most beloved traditions. Instructor Keith Davis will help participants create a mixed container of plants that will look beautiful inside or out. Just be sure to ask which ones are best suited for apartment living. The parties take place three times daily and fill quickly.
The Floral Market is a European-inspired market that’s known as a shopper’s delight. It features items such as fresh flowers, blooming branches, vases, and candles.
Designed by the Rosborough Partners, the Garden Trilogy features a landscape that’s both innovative and down to earth. It welcomes visitors with a colorful display of annuals. As you meander along the path, you will also see a book wall, ornamental trees, and a peaceful woodland setting.
