The Coziest Cider Houses in Chicago

Move over, craft beer – locally-produced, small-batch hard cider is finally getting its time to shine. Celebrate apple season by checking out one of these hip cider houses in Chicago near 215 West Apartments.

Right Bee Cider

When Right Bee Cider owners Charlie Davis and Katie Morgan founded their company, in 2014, it was the first of many cider houses in Chicago registered in the city limits since the Prohibition era! The name is an homage to their origin story: the husband-and-wife duo originally met and wooed each other with homemade batches of hard cider. All their apples are American-grown, and the honey they use comes straight from the taproom’s own rooftop beehives. You can’t get more local than that!

The Northman

This Lincoln Square bar draws its inspiration from the drinks, cuisine, and culture of cider-producing regions in northern France and southern England. A dark hardwood bar and warm lighting lend a cozy, intimate ambiance. In addition to their wide variety of ciders, they also feature one of the city’s best selections of calvados. This is an under-appreciated apple brandy native to Normandy. Don’t miss the Spanish long-pour, a foamy, funky cider that needs to be drunk as soon as it’s poured.

ERIS Brewery & Cider House

Named after the Greek goddess of chaos whose infamous golden apple set off the Trojan War, ERIS is shaking up Chicago’s brewery scene with its hard ciders. Try a glass of the Norwegian Sunburn, an apple-pineapple cider fermented with Norwegian yeast. Their high-ceilinged, bright interior is also a great place to enjoy weekend brunch. For even deeper relaxation, pair a glass of cider with one of the regular Vinyasa yoga classes featured in their space on Saturday mornings.
